Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on Tuesday said he would construct the biggest Buddha statue in the capital after the culmination of the peace process. Addressing the inauguration of the Golden Buddha statue at Shreegha Vihar, he said that the peace process is reaching the point of success and efforts are on from both sides to give a constructive turn to the talks.

And also because the US-backed junta wanted to impress its big brother that they were serious about the commies. A lot has happened since then, leading many of us to believe coups had become obsolete in our country. That has proven to be a false hope.
